What is it?
The Progressive Safe System (PSS) is an advanced upgrade of the current DVS Safe System. It’s mandatory for fleet operators to install it on their HGVs over 12T to ensure legal travel and operation within Greater London starting from October 28, 2024.
Key Features:
– Enhanced nearside detection with Blind Spot Information System (BSIS).
– Nearside camera monitoring for complete elimination of blind spots.
– Front sensor detection system called Moving Off Information System (MOIS).
Do I Need It?
– Required if your HGV’s DVS star rating is 0, 1, or 2 stars, or if you hold a DVS Safety Permit until 2024.
– Fleet operators planning to operate HGVs over 12T in Greater London must check their star ratings via TfL website or by providing us with the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN).
When to Install?
– Mandatory for HGVs over 12T with a DVS star rating of 3 or below in Greater London from October 28, 2024.
– Phase 2 application opens on June 24, 2024.
– Operators must register the PSS installation with TfL before October 28, 2024, for a grace period until January 31, 2025. Stay compliant and avoid fines up to £550/day!
